Dear Friend:

We are honored to invite you, your staff and board of directors to join with many friends of the American environmental movement in the Sidney Yates Auditorium at the Stewart L. Udall Department of the Interior Building, for the Washington DC premiere of a new film biography, STEWART UDALL: THE POLITICS OF BEAUTY.

This film captures the inspiring story of former Interior Secretary Udall (1920-2010) and his legacy as an advocate of social and environmental justice, international cooperation, art, poetry and music, and most of all, the protection of our shared environment and magnificent natural beauty. The story highlights the bi-partisan nature of Udall’s efforts and calls on us to move beyond the polarization of our time and work together to protect our shared natural heritage.

Please join us on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, in celebration of Udall’s 103rd birthday, his remarkable service and unparalleled accomplishments. Under his watch, more units were added to our National Park system than under any other Interior Secretary in history.  The film will be followed by a brief panel discussion, including Deputy Interior Secretary Tommy Beaudreau, former Secretary Bruce Babbitt, and former National Park Service Director Robert Stanton. A two-minute film trailer is here: Stewart Udall Trailer 2min (vimeo.com).  We are also delighted that the film is being accepted for, and will be showcased at, many upcoming film festivals.

We’re reaching out to environmental/social justice organizations, government agencies and members of the public, because we think you’ll find Stewart Udall’s story to be both inspiring and useful as you continue to make progress protecting our common environment and securing justice for all.

We sincerely hope you and/or friends or members of your team can spend the afternoon at this inspirational event, which will also present excellent opportunities for networking.

Please forward this invitation as appropriate to friends and colleagues as soon as possible. This is a free public event.  We encourage that attendees RSVP if possible. Doors open at 1 pm.
