“ESGs & SDGs: Meet Their Port Alegre Moment”

In late November 2021, Ibon Zugasti of Prospektiker/Mondragon and Michael Peck of 1worker1vote presented and chaired a competitively awarded panel featuring
leaders from Social Economy Europe, Social Economy Asia, ASBN (the recently merged American Sustainable Business Network), and the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization) at the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) World Cooperative Congress (WCC) in Seoul, South Korea, on their report “ESGs & SDGs: Meet Their Port Alegre Moment.”

The resulting feedback from attending UN and ICA organizing officials supports the SEE
(Mondragon-Prospektiker) & ASBN (1worker1vote) mandate to organize global social economy constituencies to convene and speak with a common voice on ESG/KPI and SDG principles, practices, and metrics. Their focus will be on three of the four juxtaposed ESG capital sources (social, human and climate) to impact the fourth, financial, on behalf of all of “humanity@work”.

In Q1 2022, Ibon and Michael (SEE/ASBN) will convene global social economy ESG/SDG organizers to establish the global congress for intentional and inclusive global social economy ESG/SDG convening forum in Q3 2022. They aspire to frame a global Social Economy “Just Transition” roadmap with interested stakeholders.
