Sylvia Karlsson-Vinkhuyzen is an assistant professor with the Public Administration and Policy Group at Wageningen University in The Netherlands. She studies the effectiveness and legitimacy of global and multilevel sustainable development governance, and the interaction between knowledge, values, and institutions. Her work on how states are held (or can be held) to account for global goals, e.g., the Paris Agreement, the Convention on Biological Diversity, and Agenda 2030, has been published in journals such as Global Environmental Politics, Ecological Economics, and International Environmental Agreements. She serves on the board of several international NGOs, including CIVICUS, the One World Trust, and the International Environment Forum. She holds a PhD from Linköping University, Sweden.

To make such a vision a reality, we need to build a sense of global community through education and hold governments accountable to their promises in the international sphere.
