Stephen Purdey is an international relations specialist. He currently serves as a research affiliate at the Waterloo Institute for Complexity and Innovation at Waterloo University in Ontario. His academic work focuses on the evolution of new forms of global governance to meet current environmental challenges. His most recent book is Economic Growth, the Environment and International Relations: The Growth Paradigm (2010). Prior to his academic career, he worked for several years in the telecommunications sector, in Canadian federal politics, and with NGOs such as the United Nations Association, the World Federalists, and the Earth Council. He received a PhD from the University of Toronto.
