Gar Alperovitz
Gar Alperovitz is Lionel R. Bauman Professor of Political-Economy at the University of Maryland and co-founder of the Democracy Collaborative, an organization developing community wealth-building approaches to local and national democratic reconstruction. He also serves as a founding board member of the New Economics Coalition. A former Fellow of Kings College, Cambridge University and of the Institute of Politics at Harvard, he was previously a Legislative Director in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate (with Earth Day Founder, Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin). His articles have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Nation, and other popular and academic publications. His recent books include What Then Must We Do? Straight Talk About the Next American Revolution and America Beyond Capitalism.
