Budd Hall has been working on issues of knowledge and democracy since 1970. Currently, he is a UNESCO Chair in Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education, co-founder of the International Participatory Research Network, and Professor of Community Development in the School of Public Administration at the University of Victoria. He co-founded the Office of Community Based Research at the University of Victoria and served as Dean of Education at the university. He has served as the Director of Research to the National Institute of Adult Education in Tanzania, the secretary-general of the International Council for Adult Education, and the Chair of Adult Education and Community Development at the University of Toronto. His most recent book is Strengthening Community University Research Partnerships: Global Perspectives (with Rajesh Tandon and Crystal Tremblay).
